![]() I once worked with a non-degreed controls engineer who was self taught in the SLC 500 days and pretty much kept on programming in Studio 5000 as if it were RSLogix 500. However, you should also keep in mind that PLC programming has changed a lot in the 25 years since since that thing was new. Like others have said, there are tens or hundreds of thousands of SLC 500s still in use, so there could be some value in learning to program on one.
